On Creative Blocks
Questions, Answers, and One Solution πͺπΎ
I've come with offerings. I've come with answers to questions we all find ourselves asking as creatives. Mainly, why the hell can't i create? What's wrong with me? Should I really be doing this?
And the answers are the same for everyone. Everyone who calls themselves an artist. A creative. Regardless of medium. We all have the same answers.
If, when you wake up in the morning, you can think of nothing but writing . . . then you are a writer.
Rainer Maria Rilke "Letters to a Young Poet.β
If you can replace writer with whatever art form you choose and this quote is still relevant these answers are for you.
When we are experiencing creative blocks we are worried about 1 thing mainly- and that perfectionism. Below is a video I did on perfectionism, but if I had to bundle it down to one clear point it is NOBODY'S PERFECT BABY!

And I mean that in the best possible way. Perfection is a box. A very small box that is almost invisible because in reality there are very very very few things that are perfect- of there's anything at all.
So why try to fit yourself in that little box? Why not step on that box and crush it like you wouldn't a little bitty ant just minding it's business- not a imaginary concept that's controlling your life and halting your creative impact!
Another huge mindset challenge for creatives is fear of judgement! Worrying about what your friends may think, or your parents, or other creatives. Worrying about how strangers will view you and what they'll decide your art is worth. All this worry is why every time you go to pick up the pencil, or the paintbrush, or the instrument, etc. you are stopped in your tracks. Overcome with fear, doubt, and uncertainty instead of joy, confidence, and pleasure.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU!
We live in a society that thrives on instant gratification, convenience, and quick fixes. That's not art. Art is intentional and impactful. And that's what you want to create. That's why you do what you do. And that's why you're meant to do this!
You shouldn't give up. You should keep moving forward on your creative journey because we both know you have something to say. We both know that every day is different, but everyday you want to create something that inspires and motivates others to move. To feel. To be. Authentically!

And that's why I crafted the #CreatingWithImpact Course a 4-week transformative journey to support you in combating resistance and creating art that aligns with your values so that you never experience a creative blocks again!
